Fashion Week, May 09: Grand Allure

The talents of both novice and veteran designers are showcased in the Fashion Week which is held twice a year. This is a one-week long fashion show which has a theme for each day of the week; May 28, 2009 being: Grand Allure. The fashion week of May 09 is being held at the SMX Convention Center. Everyone is free to come, though people with invitation are of priority. Luckily, I was one of those lucky girls who had a pass in the event :

The center was crowded with people who were dressed to kill. All of them were enthusiastic to see the show and have an update to the latest trend. Designers like Rene Salud, Popo Go, John Herrera and Project Runway’s Jaz Cerezo, Veejay and Aries stunned the audience with their elegant gowns and dresses. TV icons Karylle and Sarah Meyer are among the audience who watched the show.

Ideally, fashion shows are supposed to be flawless; however, there are cases wherein no matter how prepared you were something unplanned would happen just like the rubber sole of Luke Jickain’s shoe that accidentally fallen off while he walking in the runway. Even a careful hand couldn’t be as sure with the measurements as a model made a ramp in the runway with her T-back slipping from a dress with a back slit that ended near the butt crack.

Despite all these, the fashion show was superb! It has definitely shown how far the Filipino’s style improved. However, in a fashion show, someone would definitely do well than others. For me, the most exquisite dresses were produced by Jaz Cerezo, Popo Go, and John Herrera. More power to you guys!

Rufa Mae vs. Mo Twister

It really looks like the conflict between Rufa Mae Quinto and Mo Twister has gone more sour. It started with a misunderstanding stemming out from the Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho controversy. After the one month that Rufa Mae wasn’t able to join Mo in Showbiz Central, their misunderstanding has really gone towards the worse to the point that she has granted an interview about this issue to the rival network, The Buzz.

I don’t know what it is about Mo that has gotten him entangled in such issues, especially with the girls. He surely has not learned his lesson well. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth that he keeps getting involved in what is suppose to be a cat fight, when he’s a dog. We still don’t know what will come out of this. Let’s wait and see.

Martin Leaves Jomari and Pops Alone

By this time, a lot has been talked about Jomari Yllana’s official statement that first went live in last Saturday’s GMA’s Cool Center show. You might have possibly watched a rerun of the said statement in Showbiz Central the following day. Suffice it to say, the issue has gotten ugly than was expected. A mouthful of words were heard from the usual laid back Yllana.

He addressed Martin, as “Mr. Nievera,” all throughout his talk and anyone can see how pissed he is like never we have ever seen him before. A few hours after Yllana’s statement has gone live, we all should have expected the same mouthful from the Mouth himself, Martin Nievera. But surprisingly he agreed with the former that he really should keep out of the issue. To let the uncouple alone and have them figure things out for themselves.

What Martin Has to Say About Pops and Jomari Breakup

Warrant Issued for Lindsay Lohan’s Arrest

A warrant was recently issued for Lindsay Lohan’s arrest. For some reason, Lohan has failed to follow what has been decided on after the hit and run incident that she had. It really looks like we’re seeing another infamous display delivered by these young artists who are not able to carry stardom all too well. After having been arrested at least a couple of times in the last two years because of drunk driving and being on drugs, it looked like she has not learned her lesson since.

The decision by the court to have her undergo a programs and community service. A few of which are: an 18 month alcohol education program, mandatory drug test and community service for 10 days. It was said that even if she missed even one of what was required of her would mean a warrant of arrest.

Here is an update from the police department:

“In response to media inquiries, [the] Beverly Hills Police Department is confirming a warrant was in fact issued today [March 13] for the arrest of Lindsay Lohan. The $50,000 warrant issued by the Beverly Hills Superior Court stems from a May 2007 arrest of Miss Lohan for DUI and hit-and-run.

“The circumstances leading to the issuance of the warrant by the court are not readily available at this time. It is our hope that Miss Lohan will surrender herself so that this matter will be resolved in a timely manner.”

It is still unknown as of this writing if Lohan is still in hiding.

What Martin Has to Say About Pops and Jomari Breakup

People have been asking what Martin has to say about her ex-wife Pops Fernandez’s break up with her long time boyfriend Jomari Yllana. All he has to say really is that he does not like to see when Pops is hurting like she is now. It is interesting to know that they really have kept their friendship intact. Pops calls him and talks about the pain and they talk for hours on end.

It is funny how they were able to build a relationship and they can both tell anything to each other without being hurt. Martin even asked Pops if she wanted him to talk to Jomari, but they did not agree to it, which was actually a relief for Martin because he admits, it is really not his business.

Martin just hopes that Pops will get back up again and he continually assures her of being beside her every step of the way.

Aniston’s No Forever Expectations on Relationships

A lot are ridiculing Aniston for playing everyone with his alleged romance with John Mayer. While Mayer seems to be the perfect date, with his being willing and all. People are even labeling Aniston as being phony and seem to be more bored than interested.

Why do people get all so upset with how she presents herself as being happy with what she currently have. Even telling in Sunday’s You magazine as having “the best moment of my life. I’ve never felt better physically or professionally. I am a very lucky woman.”

While some have a hard time believing that the she and John Mayer is really an item, we still have to give her the benefit of the doubt that if at all true, they are now dating for a year. Aniston claims as being romantic, and at this time of her life she believes that it is not right to forever expectations in relationships.

Let’s just give it to her that she is this 40 year old unmarried woman – rich and beautiful. She is trying to figure out her relationship. Let us just watch out from here how she fares with her thing with Mayer.

Geri Halliwell and Italian tycoon, Fabrizio Politi’s engagement is officially off. It is less than three months since their wedding plans was announced and who will ever forget all those photos around the news of Ginger spice flaunting her brand new £220,000 engagement ring to the public.

Apparently, Geri just woke up one day and figured out that the only one that she needs is her daughter Bluebell to be happy and was convinced that she is not the marrying type. We all know how she could get in and out of a relationship and it will only be a matter of time until she’s bouncing back with another lover.

Filipinos Mourn Over FrancisM’s Death

There is no doubt that Francis Magalona made an impact not just in the movie and music industry but the whole country as well. People are mourning every since his demise was announce on live television yesterday noon.

The Master Rapper did not just make his mark plainly but shouted throughout the world how Filipinos can be proud of their culture. A true epitome of patriotism and positivity. A true gung ho of his beloved country. He so loved the Philippines that he even coined his T-shirt company, “Three Stars and a Sun,” the picture of our Philippine flag.

Even through his bouts he remained hopeful. He surely made an impact even to those rapper newbies and encouraged them to give it a shot and a lot of them will go back to that time that Kiko, as was fondly called by friends, pushed them to give their best.

His remains lies in Christ the King Church. People are mourning, but all are convinced that it was a short but well lived life.

Aniston’s No Forever Expectations on Relationships

Francis Magalona Dies at 44

Born in October 4, 1964, Francis Magalona succumbed to Leukemia at 12NN (Philippine time) today, March 6, 2009. He was confined in Medical City in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The brave soul, who was known to be The Master Rapper, apparently underwent the 4th Chemo cycle in Jan 15. It was the last time we have heard from him.

His own words from his blog:
Good evening people. I am getting prepared for my 4th Chemotherapy cycle, and I will be admitted tonight at The Medical City. I will be doing some tests tomorrow, wish me luck. Friday I begin my 4th cycle which is a Hi-Dose kind, as will be taking 6 grams of Cytarabin™ a day every other day for 3 days.

I will be at the 14th floor of the TMC, as usual. I brought alot reading materials (bible included!) and dvds to keep me company while I do my treatment. I will be doing my radiation treatment by February and my PBSCT (Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplant) will be done by March.

I look forward to the pain as I know my journey is on full speed ahead. I will not be bold to say that without asking a favor from you all. PLEASE PRAY for me as I undergo treatment. Your prayers, as always, have sustained me. And am sure the Lord will listen to all our prayers. To His will I submit myself.

PS: I will be needing blood donors for blood and platelets. Please go to the lower ground floor of The Medical City and donate blood in my name. For platelets Apheresis you may go have yourself screened at the Phil. Nat’l Red Cross at the Pier in Manila. I am type O positive. Thank you again.

The Man from Manila, as he was fondly called was an inspiration to many. Those who have journey with him through his disease can attest to the fact that despite the hardship and pains, he has remained positive. Tomorrow, March 7, 2009, Eat Bulaga pays tribute to Francis Magalona and will dedicate the entire show to him. They are calling it The Francis Magalona Day.

Rihanna and Chris Brown are Back Together

How crazy can love get? Apparently Chris Brown and Rihanna are back together again after being spotted checking in at Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The smackin’ probably was not just enough or maybe she has gone nuts altogether over this Brown guy. Sure they have reigned Billboard’s top spot, but can somebody pull out that co-dependency rug off their feet?

It really will just be a matter of time until there is this part two to that February 8 incident when Rihanna was dead beat by this man who swears to love her. And maybe then, he does love her to death? Pun intended. Incidentally, a lot of other women are coming out of the open to report domestic violences that happen to them in the past. This issue is as old as time and let’s just hope that people who are in this kind of relationship really learn from it. The fact being that they are outside the box and Rihanna is not.

Somebody pull out Rihanna out of that box, please?
